SINEWAVE is Mark Wiebe, a Winnipeg based producer and musician who took Canada's underground electronic music scene by storm last autumn with his album "Interplanetary Ridicule". An infectious mixture of breakbeats, samples and chilled vibes, the disc garnered positive reviews from Exclaim!, eye weekly, Now Magazine, Hour and other publications, and hit the top of the charts at college stations across the country, leading to a placement at #18 in the Best of 2001 charts in Earshot, Canada's campus and community radio report. This show will be Sinewave's second appearance in Toronto, following a house-packing (and house-rocking) performance at Now Lounge last September. dB is Drew Malamud and Blake Markle, a down-tempo drum'n'bass duo from Montreal who are the newest members of the 2Top Records family. dB set themselves apart by sampling their own recordings of solo drummers to build their tracks. These grooves are then deftly cut up and combined with lush keyboard textures and blunted out acidic basslines. dB frequently play to packed crowds in key Montreal venues such as Casa del Popolo and la S.A.T., solidifying their reputation as the scene's premier live drum'n'bass act. This will be their first performance in Toronto. CREVICE is an interdisciplinary art collective that formed last year to explore the possibilities of immersive multimedia. Playing in the intersections of the physical and virtual, they make use of video robotics, electronic music, digital animation and hypertext design to create site-specific events and installations. |
